Flywheel energy storage systems have gained increased popularity as a method of environmentally friendly energy storage.
Technological innovations in flywheel energy storage systems (FESS) represent a significant leap in enhancing the overall performance, efficiency, and applicability of these systems. As energy demands continue to escalate and the need for sustainable solutions emerges, breakthroughs in technology become all the more essential.
A keen example is the flywheel energy storage system integrated into the London Underground trains. The trains use flywheels to recover energy during braking, which is then deployed to power the train during acceleration.
